The second picture of a Kookaburra with it's breakfast (the other one is with a spider).

The quality is not the best but I decided to submit it anyway for the curiosity and informational value. Taken at full zoom (300mm) and just cropped and the brightness tweaked, no resizing

Kookaburras are native to the whole eastern side of Australia as well as part of the extreme south west.

Quote :

Kookaburras have keen eyesight and are fierce hunters , when they catch their prey they will beat it against a log or rock to kill , then pound it with their beak to soften the meat making it easier to eat. The Kookaburra eats its prey whole sometimes having to rest for lengths of time waiting for the first half of the animal to be digested so the 2nd half can be swallowed..... The Kookaburra will regurgitate food and store it in the nest for future meals.

Cool capture with the snake!

Très belle capture, avec ce serpent. L'image est un peu bruitée. Un petit passage par Neet image

The situation makes up for the lower quality. I wonder how much time you had for this shot.

Yep...Its definitely worth posting because its a good capture even if not crystal clear.
Do you know what kind of snake this was?
I didn't know Kookaburras ate things like that.
Thanks for showing us.

Pity the quality isn't fantastic, but great photo anyway. I like the composition - the way the branches/trunk frame the kookaburra. Well done!

Hi Norman
A delightful menagerie of beasties in your portfolio. Sorry I can not comment on all. I really appreciate action pics, having tried, and failed, and still trying and sometimes succeeding. Oz has some vile snakes - is that one or a legless lizard? This is one of my favourite k'fishers, TFS
