Not a local critter ..

Certain of the 35 species of coerebine honeycreepers are called sugarbirds. Many feed on nectar, in tropical forests and gardens. All are small, most are brilliantly coloured, and many have thin, downcurved bills; the tongue is brushy and may be double-tubed.

The red-legged, or blue, honeycreeper (Cyanerpes cyaneus) of Cuba and Mexico to Ecuador and southern Brazil is 13 centimetres (5 inches) long; the breeding male is shiny blue, with black upperparts and mask. The nest, typically a cup made in a forked twig, usually contains two eggs.

Hello Scott,
A little late, I know, but a warm welcome to TrekNature.
What a great colorful bird image to start of with.
Pity the image size is a little small, but nevertheless details are wonderfully visible.
Composition, sharpnes and lighting are excellent and the soft background, against wich the bird does stand out perfectly, is very pleasing.
Hope to see more of these beautiful images from you in the near future.
Thanks for sharing.
Have a nice Sunday,
Harry

Hi Scott
What a brilliant blue this little Honeycreeper is. I wish we had this species in Canada, he's a little cutie. Excellent POV and DOF. Lighting and colours are wonderful.

This is beautiful-the color and the sharpness and the composition. What a beautiful blue!

Scott,
Only one word to express my view: OUTSTANDING register.
A few notes on the: "Blue Honeycreeper" would have been great. Minor issue. I'll look it up on the internet.
Welcome to TN.
Friendly greetings from Calgary from Mario.

HI Scott!
Great POV and compo, astonishing colors on this little fellow!Awesome shot.

Hi Scott,

Thanks for showing me this fantastically beautifull little sugarbird/sunbird. So, so beautifull. Your picture is very good. The pose is fantastic, as is the BG. Well done.

Jan-Hendrik

Hey Scott,
What a colourful image. My only critic is that the detail of the black feathers on the top side of the bird is lost and the head feathers have no texture or detail either, but still quite a nice image.
Cheers Steve.
