Translucent Queen

[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Another Monarch from the International Water Lilly garden in San Angelo, TX. I was lucky enough to get this guy with the sun back lighting the wings.
Thanks to Batu for the correction on the ID of this species. It is actually the Queen Butterfly (Danaus gilippus)and not a Monarch.

hi billy,
a good picture of this butterfly,
good details and nice POV.
congrats and TFS
Hello Billy,
A very eye-catching picture from you! The composition stands out especially because of the excellent contrast between foreground and background and also because of the perfectly blurred background. I like the translucence of the wings created by the backlight. Very good, brilliant colors! The frame is also very appropriate! Great job!
With Friendly Regards,
Eddie
Hi Billy,
Nice open wing pose and backlit effect. I like the second out of focus Monarch in the BG as well. Perhaps a bit soft focused..
I thought they were AKA Queen Monarchs. Gee wiz ;)
Well done.
Howard

Nice shot Billy, love the back lighting in this and well placed in the frame with the softer Monarch in the background almost top centre...Cheers Rick
Hello Billy,
your picture does not show the monarch Danaus plexippus but a male of the related species
- Danaus gilippus
Best wishes, Peter
