[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi all,
This is one of the flies that I recorded in "De Hortus" botanical garden in Amsterdam.This is a species of Dolichopodid Flies, which are small to minute in size with bright metallic colors, mostly green or bronze. Their legs are long so they also have other common name Long-legged Flies. Adult Dolichopodid Flies feed on smaller soft body insects such as aphids. Larvae are usually found in moist soil and under tree bark. They are either scavengers or predators of other insects larvae.

Goutham, in my personal opinion you could have cropped the space and give more space for the fly. The colors are beautiful. Probably front view would have created a major impact on the shot. Ganesh

Hello Goutham,

This is definitely not a Dolichopodidae but Gymnochaeta viridis (Tachinidae), they become bronze- or copper-coloured instead of green with age.

Glad you caught that ... I think it is a Tachinidae also. Fairly nice shot Goutham. Could use a tad bit of fill light.
