I'm little afraid Sebnem, why did you wrenched off head of this poor hover ;-))) ?
Excellent pose - I've never seen picture of hoverfly with so turned head. Details and sharpness are also superb. I think this is one of your best pictures!

Very good one. It does look as if the little guy was mopping the sweat from its brow! Excellent capture considering the very short DOF inherent to the circumstances.

This is a nice pose of the fly. Excellent POV and the details are fine. The DOF a bit shallow at F4.5 (try F8 as the largest when getting this close) I would have considered sacrificing some shutter speed to get a larger DOF. F9 @ 1/300s instead of F4.5 @ 1/600s. Both the long lens and short distance to the subject decreases your depth of field and you needed the smaller aperture setting. Its a lovely shot none the less. Well done.

Hi Sebnem, magnificent colors and a beautiful PoV. The oof wing towards us is a bit closing the body of the hoverfly but I know how fast you should be on shooting these insects.

Hi Sebnem, lovely shot of this fly - the family is definitely Syrphus and my best guess for the species is S. vitripennis although I'm not 100%. Nice POV and good capture. Well done.

I don't know - yet - what it means to carry a heavy lens, but I do intend to learn someday.

I saw your last one, that was a very good one, but I go for this very good composing shot, the details are very nice, the pov is perfect and the dof is nice, you did a good job here.

The pose is very beautiful, with the head turned 90º and the leg on it. Details are amazing too. You take postprocess to the limit, for my paersonal taste a bit too much, but I admit is very effective.

Hi Şebnem

This is a very lovely macro of this little hoverfly. Looks like the little guy hands-upped for you. He must have thought your Nikon was a Canon. It appears like it was worth your while carrying that "heavy lens" and finally being able to capture this impressive shot. A far better way to build and strengthen those arm muscles than pumping dumbbells, don't you agree?

The composition is great with the fly positioned on the diagonal line. The colours are stunning and the details are superb. The DOF have perfectly isolated the insect from the OOF and well removed BG while the plane of focus is well noticeable on the leaf. The exposure control was great and at f/4.5 aperture & 1/1600 shutter speed you really nailed the lighting catching a number of interesting highlights all over the fly.
