Curve Billed Thrasher

The Curve-billed Thrasher ranges throughout the arid southwestern United States and into northern and central Mexico. A long-term decline in U.S. populations has been documented and is likely to be the result of losses in breeding habitat to development and agriculture, especially in the areas where it is most abundant—the south Texas brushlands and Sonoran Desert of Arizona.

The Curve-billed Thrasher is about the size of the American Robin but more slender. It has orange eyes, white throat, grayish-brown body, and thick legs. It also has a long, slender, black bill that is curved. The Curve-billed Thrasher makes an all-purpose double whistle, whit-wheet. No other Toxostoma thrasher with an overlapping range makes this sound.

Hello Jane,
Another fine bit of natural framing against the blue sky.
This time the Curved-billed Thrasher has the honor! You caught him at a good moment with fine sharpness and lighting in an excellent composition.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Great blue background - what a beautiful Arizona sky!!
Wonderful pov and composition.

These are those unusual colors I see from time to time. Not many do them, but they have this attraction as if they come from a different era or a specific type of color positive film. I relate them to Technicolor. Very well done. The post is simply perfect and the angle from which you shot a hard one to make look good.!
