Info on the Eastern Pondhawk

I was going to post a Giant Swallowtail but it is almost identical to angybone's except her's is better. So I posted this photo of a female Eastern Pondhawk instead. Taken along a bayou in Texas City where I sat watching many different species mating, fighting, depositing eggs and hovering/flying low over the water.

One can distinguish the adult female from the immature male by the ovipositor located near the end of the abdomen on the female. The adult male is solid powder blue except for the eyes and face which remain bright green.

Hello Jim,
Excellent capture of this bright green dragonfly from a nice POV. It stands out very nicely from the soft background and I like the composition. The reed is a bit bright but no real problem.
TFS and regards, Ulla

hi Jim
superbe macro de cette libellule verte, la couleur est vive et bien saturée. Belle lumère, même si la branche est OE.

Hello Jim,
dragonflies - and also the specimen shown - prefer bright and exposed resting sites. But you managed the light very well here. Composition and colours are beautiful as are the impressive eyes.
Best wishes, Peter
