[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
As the sun rises later and later in the day, I see the world with new eyes on my morning walks with my dog. We’re a bit lazy, I admit. We don’t leave the house before 7:15 in the morning, but the sun is as lazy as we are, I think, for that happy face appears over the tops of the trees around the time that Theodore and I make our way back home again.
On this particular morning, the sharp angle of the sun illumined these stray grasses and turned the seed heads to copper and gold. Theodore puzzled at my interest, I think, especially since I had to practically stand on my head to capture this but he’s gotten used to having to stop and wait for me to snap a picture.
When I downloaded it from my disk to my computer, I was startled at the pattern the sun made in the upper right hand corner, a design no doubt created by the leaves through which it shone. And then an old Lennon/McCartney song began to play in my head:

Everybody's laughing
Everybody's happy
Here comes the sun king

Of course there’s a second part to the song, but I’ve long given up trying to make sense of it:D

Mundo paparazzi mi amore cicca verdi parasol

Would anyone care to try to tackle THAT? -- without smoking any herbs, that is :D

Ahhh, the grasses? To be honest, I have looked them up but there are SO many different grasses, I really do not know what it is. Suffice it to say that it was growing in an untended bit of scrubland that had suffered from the drought of this past summer. These stalks are only about 10 cm (4 inches) high. If you can ID them, please do! :D

This image is so pretty. Very simple and artistic. The colours show the warmth of autumn. Excellent POV and DOF. The background colours are a nice contrast to the grass.

Hi Silke!

I like it very much for its simplicity and autheticity. It's therefore the mirror of what our nature is and it shows us that the beauty of the nature is often to be found very close to us. I like the color tones and the overall atmosphere very much. From my point of view, I would chose a little closer focus or crop the image a bit.

What a wonderful image, very artistic and I love the colours. Great focus on those grasses and a very interesting pattern in the background. I love these kind of captures, even if you don't know the ID, it certainly makes us reflect on the beauty of nature.

Hello Silke, I like the golden tones here and the simplicity. It all works for me. I would like to suggest cloning out the bright patch in the top right of the frame. Well done.

I've missed this beautiful abstract photo. I love the mood you captured in it. I always love these simple but effective compositions where a single subject makes the photo. I love the way you isolated these grasses and how you used the warm sublight to illuminate them. I agree with Paul on the top. A clone or crop would do.
