[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
For todays posting I have moved to Antarctica. I took this shot from a zodiac at the same time as the other two Adelie postings.

Although winter data is lacking, the Adélie penguin is known to feed mainly on Antarctic krill during the chick-rearing season, supplemented by Antarctic silverfish and glacial squid. The stable isotope record of fossil eggshell accumulated in colonies over the last 38,000 years reveals a sudden change from a fish-based diet to krill that started two hundred years ago. This is most likely due to the decline of the Antarctic fur seal since the late 1700's and baleen whales in the twentieth century. The reduction of competition from these predators has resulted in a surplus of krill, which the penguins now exploit as an easier source of food.

Hello James,
Excellent camera work as always, love how the second from the right looks like he is snowboarding down the slope. Once again your note has educated me about our world, thank you.

Hi James,
Those little guys really stand out from that super white glacier. Amazing blue colour of the ocean. Great composition .

Wow, James!

The light has created a rainbow of blues and purples on the snow to show its contours! I love the detail of the penguins, particularly the one which is descending at speed! What an amazing sight!

kind regards,
Bev :-)

Excellent capture James, it reminds of the National Geographic flick I watched in 05. Narrated by Morgan Freeman, the "March of the Penguins" was an exceptional movie..As is your image :)
Very well done.

Hello James.
Very beautiful. Great capture. A nice touch of humour. And I like the composition how you included a great deal of the ice that, for me, accentuates the penguins surroundings. Very well done.
Best regards, Steve.

Hello James,
This is a great shot with perfect clarity and sharpness!
It's also a good in motion shot too when you see one of the Penguin coming down on the slope!
well composed and well seen!
have a wonderful weekend, James!

Hi James,

Just amazing to see these penguins marching along in the snow. What a sight this must have been. Love the one who looks like he's skiing without skis. They show up so well on the snow.

Hi James,
Quite the image. Would have loved to been there with you.

Hi James,
Splendid shot of a beautiful cold place which I will never see with my eyes. The Penguins are having a gala time there it seems and I like the details on the ice block. Fantastic blue water which sets up a nice tone. Excellent POV to portray this charming scene and very nicely composed. Kudos.

Hi James, just read your intro page - you have certainly visited many countries. There's more gold on the world map than cream!!
What an interesting shot here showing the penquins playing(!) on the slopes. So good to see. Well done

Hi James,
Ha Ha, they look like they are having a grand time! I do love penquins. Your so lucky to have seen this first hand. The blue color just gives me shivers thinking just how cold it was there! Beautiful shot. TFS

Hi James,
Exposure control and the light are beautiful. I liked the pose you captured, the composition and details a lot. Well done and TFS
Have a nice week

Hi James,
What a magnificent sight. The row of penguins and the stunningly colored and shaped ice make for a awesome photo. I really love the pose of the penguin, second from the right. It looks like he's in the perfect snowboard postion sliding down the slope while the rest is strugeling to go forward. He must be the dude of the pack.

Hello James,
Very beautiful and amusing capture of these Penguins struggling along on an iceberg. Beautiful light, lovely colours and very well composed.
TFS and regards, Ulla

How fun! This makes me want to go and join them, though I might find the water a tad chilly. The water is stunning - not hot like so many photos that have water and ice side by side. Stunning capture, just stunning. This entire photo is amusing, and it's got terrific detail. (Did I mention that it's full of emotion - mainly what a wonderful time they're having or seem to be having anyway?)

Hi James,
Thanks for your kind critique of my Teton photo. I haven't time now to look at all your recent photos but I am always a sucker for penguins so picked this one. Penguin photos almost always make me smile and yours is no exception. I love the contrast of their little tuxedos against the ice, their playful postures and the wonderful blues of the ice. It is a super shot.
