New idea :)
to be very honnest the bird in this image is more a foreign body than a real highlight. Even more so as the BG is simply stunning. Imho one should forget the bird but you van be very proud about that landscape shot.

ah yes, i see what you mean! i really like what you've done here, i have a few shots myself that i'm not sure are more landscape or animal.
The BG here is jaw droppingly beautiful and the bird does add a nice element of movement against the static mass of all that rock. The workshop gives a good idea of what this bird looks like too, so thanks for including it.
Have a good weekend my friend.

Your idea is really so interesting: to find the bird on the image -: ))). I have found it at last (thanks for WS).
Now it is serious. Amazing POV and superb combination of lights and shadows on so wonderful mountain scenery. Great DOF: not too large and not shallow at all. Exposure and colours are perfect too. Cropping is very impressive. Bravo. Well done shot.
Fine shot of the Grand Canyon.
Nicely composed /POV and taken at a good time of day.
You have good details though I prefer a bit sharper image of rocky photos. I did a WS to compare.
I think the bird in your image is a Turkey Vulture.

Nice to see you're back home and active again :-)
I have a lot of your already posted pictures still to see...
This one is just gorgeous. I like a lot the composition with ridge line leading the eye through the shot and also the incredible play of shadows and lights. Perfect job!!!
The bird in the centre is just like a cherry on the cake :-)
And last but not least - congratulation on your new camera! I'm sure you'll make a great use of it!!!

It took me a second to find the bird. I was really loving the light in this dramatic landscape. The play of light and shadow is excellent here. Great feeling of depth. The Grand Canyon is one amazing place!

A great landscape, and the silhouetted bird adds to the feeling of wilderness!
The play of light is awesome, adding life to the rugged summit!

I don't there is much wrong with this shot as a landscape showing a beautifully lit aspect of the Grand Canyon. Of course, if you wanted the bird to be the main feature then a telephoto would have been the choice.
Your WS shows a Turkey Vulture with unusually light parts of the wings, which may have been due to the light.
I can tell you that I am very pleased with my Canon 400D and I'm sure that with your experience both as a photographer and biologist you will give yours its best performance.
Thanks and best wishes,

It has been long since we interacted last.
Well, this is grand shot of the Grand Canyon, no doubt. The impression is three-dimensional.
The bird, of course, looks like a dark outline against the brown cliff. However, I like this picture basically as a landscape.
Hope you are enjoying your stay in the US.
Thanks and take care.

Yes ofcourse this is a beautiful idea. But it is your luck that didn't allowed you enough time to take this with a big lens. I am sure it will look very nice with a little more closeup. Better luck next time. Thanks a lot for sharing this idea.

Hello Horia, pretty landscape to say the least ! The bird seems to be a young Turkey Vulture. As you tried to focus on the bird I think the background looks slightly out of focus. Great shot my friend !

Wow, I love the photo very much. What a beautiful scenery!! I'd like to see the Grand Canyon by naked eyes. :-)
I think it's not easy to outstand the bird in this case like your photo and you must be shot many times.
Lovely colours and excellent details, fine POV, well composed and framed.

It was so funny, because at first I couldn't find any bird on the image, and thought it was a kind of visual effect like those in which you can make figures with dots and optic art.
I must say that I like so much this landscape, with and excellent POV and the interesting vanishing light at the back.
Grand Canyon is an impressive site and you captured it with excellence.
Well done and thanks for share it.

Sorry for the lateness of this crit - esp as we posted side-by-side. Great view of the canyon with nice light. The bird - possibly a black vulture - is a nice touch.

The bird in WS looks a lot like a Turkey Vulture IMHO... This is a very nice picture with excellent POV, exposure and DOF. I like those tones of colors a lot with this deep blue BG. For a reason, this rock formation reminds me of the mountain in the movie “Close Encounter of the third kind” :) Thanks,

I think you nailed this photo in every possible way. The back silhoutte of the bird against the magnificent back drop is just awesome. It pefectly shows how the big the bird is and how huge the landscape is. I think that without the bird you had a good landscape photo but with the bird it just adds that bid extra. Love the light and the mood in the photo.

Long time ago I was last time in your gallery... But finally today I find a few moments to write something more that "I'll be back" :)
The title "new idea" is really nice for this new kind of presentation in you gallery. Wide panoramic POV and great, warm colours of sunset (?) made this picture very climatic and beautiful :)
Really I have to say that the bird is not the most important element of this picture as for me, but on the other hand I agree with you that it is a very nice "additional element" in this landscape photo.
Hope to see some other pictures from this fantastic area from you soon :)
Friendly regards from Lodz,

Wonderful light and POV. Great colour and sharpness. It took a couple of looks until I saw the bird, and that's when it hits you just how good this is. On it's own without the bird it would be beautiful. With it it's exceptional. Very well done.

a very good compo!:-)
I doubt if the bird plays an important role here; hardly a reference to underscore the size of the 'background'. I like the shadow and light play very much.
