You always have the imagination to find something interesting for us. here you have opened out a whole branch of ecology: the ecology of a tree trunk and how the life found on it depends on the exposure to weather, light the texture of the bark as well as the species of tree.
An interesting and well presented illustration and I thank you for showing this aspect of wild life.
Enjoy your weekend,
Best wishes, Ivan

Indeed something different,a nice idea, the colors and details look natural,if I may guess you took this capture standing on the west side of the tree, tfs

I am very glad I stumbled onto this image. Very nice patterns in bark. And not only that...but different contrasts and colors as well. It lets the imagination and creative part of nature come through. Sort of like awakening a different part of the brain...close to enlightenment. Very brave shot. And good as well.

I am a big fan of natural abstract photos. And I am more and more atracked to capture my own. I think that it makes one look at nature in a completely different way and connects nature and photography more then any other type of photography. Yours is a good example of what art nature can present to us. The close capture showed the details of the bark perfectly and nature has presented you with great strong clear lines. I am not sure how you can call this, but to me it looks like the natural highway of a tree.
P.S. I like your idea of calling this tri-colore flag the flag of Oakland.

It is a nice, sharp, tri-color composition Horia. Something similar with one red autumn oak leaf might be interesting too. I like the image and I think that something acting as a focal point might make it even more interesting. I often think I need to broaden my subject base as I find so little that interests me to photograph near to home.

Hi Horia, great natural flag, an inusual composition, great phantasy from you, excellent sharpness, very well done, have a nice sunday, ciao Silvio
Great textures have been captured in this fine old tree!
The age is evident since it seems like there is growing moss after hundreds of years...
A nice frame full of interesting details!

A good study of color, pattern, and texture. Sometimes we have to look a things differently to see new things we have been passing over. We need to get more creative. You have done that here. Well done.
Now I see a brilliant (and very sharp) work of the my lovely lens and I am satisfied. I welcome your searches. They give rich experience and knowledge. I also like your creative approach and interesting idea of the shot. The picture is really perfect by form and by content. Note is very nice too. Only I donít understand the reason to use so long exposure time and tripod for absolutely static object. However, considering rainy day and desire to shoot (I welcome it too) it is so clear. My best regards and TFS. Well done.
This is a great idea and I love to look at the fascinating details in barks and mosses..they have such lovely textures....To me dare I say that the focus is a little unsharp for a static scene..I would have approached it as you have but chosen iso 100, aperture f10, and most important I would have manually focused and then fired the shutter via the timer operation to eliminate any shake by the very long exposure this would have created...I hope this helps and its a great idea...as for the flag name for a country..well theres a town in essex called barking so i would go for Barking!!
Tfs And Good work

Hi Horia, it's always great to experiment with something new, especially when you manage to succeed as well as you have here. A lovely mix of texture and form, as well as a well framed POV. The three blocks of colour, as previously mentioned are very flag like!
An artistic and well presented shot, well done my friend, your skills as a photographer have made the best of bad conditions.
