Lesser known backyard creatures:
Great was my surprise when I discovered a few days ago these two bugs, "brotherly" sharing a blood meal. They are Two-spined stinkbugs (Rhynchota; Heteroptera; Pentatomidae; Picromerus bidens; Zweispitzwanze; Punaise épineuse). They consume a Carcharodes alceae caterpillar that can develop in my yard thanks to the Malva weeds. They are of 10-13 mm length. Their distribution is holopalaearctic, that means they occur just about everywhere, from Portugal to Japan.

Technique: Macro lens with macro twin flash and dispersers; monopod; 1/125 sec, f/18.

Superb shot....excellent DOF&composition.

Great shot and DOF is spot on, always tricky with macro photos. Hope you score high with this one, the subject matter is interesting.

Gran enfoque, profundidad . Los colores son fieles y la luz muy precisa. Buena disposición de los insectos y excepcional la toma del conjunto. Una gran fotografía.

Un saludo Dietrich.

Hi Dietrich,
Just marking this wonderful post from you for now and will come back later with a proper critique. Sorry tied up with an urgent assignment.

Hi Dietrich!
This is another fantastic entomological picture! And another one which is also a great documentary photo! I observed bugs hunting for caterpillars but it was always one bug for one prey! And here we have a real "twins"! ;> Lovely photo, really!
According to technique - there is eveything what I like: good colours, sharpness and details, interesting POV. And moreover, the note is as always informative :)
My best withes and thanks for showing this image!

Guten Abend Dietrich,
herbstliche Mahlzeit zweier Wanzen, in höchster Präzision festgehalten.

Hello Dietrich,
This is an amazing macro, not only in finding these two bugs sucking the liquids out of dead caterpillar, but of the skill in achieving such a sharp and well exposed image without any negative features that can be caused by the use of flash.
Well done Dietrich: we need you on TN!
Thanks and best wishes, Ivan

Lovely capture!
How beautiful and yet disgusting for some people.
You managed a beautiful composition, and impressing details and colour.
Best regards and my compliments, Felipe.

Excellent picture and title of it - though these insects actually may not have 'it'! Lighting is excellent to bring out all areas! Very neat!
