Day 2 of my Kruger National Park self drive safari (2/20). We start all over;-). Thus this is Episode II day 2 (2/20).
You can view the chronological order in my traveloque;
Welcome!
This is also a cleaning up round, deleting some images
and rating them so that my workflow in terms of selecting photos for post processing and uploading will be more efficiently.

Photo taken near head camp Skukuza along the Sabie river. Weather was warm. Golden light capture...
Skukuza is situated in the western half of the Park and consists of granite and thus relatively unfertile.
Habitat could be described as mixed broadleaf woodland.

In October birds are engaged in courtship rituals and displays...

Thanks for your time, critiques,...
Wish you a triple A weekend.

sorry for critique, but u have great camera, great lens, but this picture is not so great...Not interesting composition, and strange light. Itīs only my opinion. I wish u good light to next photos

Hi Annick.
The light coming in on the side/behind of him is wonderful. Exposed beautifully to see all that feather detail and the rim of light on him. Perfect sharpness, DOF, detail and colour and the pose of quite an intense stare at something.
Beautiful,
Kathleen

Hi Annick
Wonderful capture
Nice detail and color

Hi Annick,
Difficult light, but you've managed it very well..in typical "vandersheldon" fashion ;}
A fine image, very well done.
Have a great weekend,
Howard

Hi Annick

This is both a great bird shot as well as a very artistic picture!
That horizontal branch with nothing on it except the bird really makes a rather minimalistic composition here, doubled by that splendid uniform BG. This way the bee-eater is really the only attraction point here as it's brought out superbly.
The light here is also terrific, warm and direct, creating some cool contrasts and saturating the colors nicely.
However, i'm puzzled by one thing: how is it possible that an f/2.8 is enough to keep an entire elephant in complete focus while here an f/4.5 isn't, blurring a bit of the tail? I really don't get it, because the focal length is the same in both.
Anyway, it's still a great job!

Bravo and TFS

Hello Annick,
Colors and lightning are superb, so are details and this lovely model. Kruger is such a place to see so many different species... I think this is a good shot with good management of this hard light.

Hola Annick. Bella foto, aun cuando la luz del sol es lateral, se aprecia bellamente los colores del plumaje del objeto principal. Muy bella la pose tambien. Saludos Luis52.

Hi Annick, I can't see anything wrong with the light here. The colours and shaprness detail on the feathers are wonderful. Great pov of this Bee Eater. The profile showing that magnificent beak works really well. I think that it is a good strong photo of a beautiful bird.

The lighting shows off the radiance in the feathers so well, and you've achieved fantastic clarity - again!
Well done...

HI Annick,
Well exposed shot under difficult lighting. The side/back lighting has created beautiful effect and you have handled the situation deftly.
I wish you could place a strobe with a grid to get a catch light on its eye :)

Regards
Anil
