The Small Green Bee-eater,merops orientalis is a
dainty grass green bird tinged with bronze colour on head and neck. It has a slender, long slightly curved bill and conspicuous black necklace. Seen in pairs or parties, in open country on telegraph wires, fence posts, etc. It sallies after insects, snapping them in its bill and circling back to the perch where it is battered to death and swallowed.
Though I have often seen them with bees or flies in their beak, either they are perching on electric wires or I don't have a camera with me.This is the first time I got a chance to photograph one with a bee perching on a branch. The light was strong but i think I did manage to get a fairly good picture.
Some details on the photo.

Hello Smitha,
Great capture.POV,lighting,BG,pose of bird and composition are excellent.TFS

What a unique capture. I've never heard of this type of bird. Gee, I'd like some for around here, especially given my allergy to them!

Details are fabulous, composion-wise, it is near perfect, and the moment is terrific. The pose is so typical, but what makes it stand out is the capture of the bee.

Hello Smitha,
Very good composition with great pose of the bird!
perfect sharpness, vivid colour and so much details
TFS with a wonderful notes
best regards

Hi Smitha,
Fine capture of this Bee-eater with bee!
Good POV/pose, details, and nicely composed.

Hi, neighbour,

good picture .......Bee eater with a Bee.!!!
Nice compo. but some how, this low angle doesn't give nice POV, i suppose. you saty lond distance use long tele, andfrom below, you get to see fairly good perspective. where as if you go near, and below bird, you loose perspective. give it a try once.

Hi Smitha,

Excellant Shot! Great moment you have shared.

Hello Smitha,
An unusual capture of the Small Green Bee-eater in a fine pose showing its turned head with the insect in its beak. Difficult strong light but I think you've made a good job of it. Very well composed!
Many thanks and best wishes, Ulla

Hi Smitha,
You had a great timing to get this image of the bird with its catch on the beak.
Got excellent and clear details to enjoy its colorful plumage.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,

A bee-eater caught in action, Smitha. I have seen a lot of these birds around here but never with a bee in their beaks.
The capture from the rear shows the bird's plumage to great advantage. The focus on the eye too is very sharp.
Well done and TFS.

Hi Smitha,
A beautiful capture of this bee eater along with its snack. These are also found in plenty at my village. But due to gear limitations I am unable to capture these beauties. Anyway I like this shot very much. Very good details and composition. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Great capture, Smitha!
Everything is superb about this shot of a Little Green Bee-eater: the sharpness, pose, Pov, composition, colours and sky BG. What is more this is the first time I have seen a bee-eater with an actual bee in its beak.
Nice framing too!
Well done and TFS!

Hi Smitha,
I have had a good look at your gallery and I must say that it is difficult to pick any one photo to critique as they all look excellent to me.This photo caught my eye straight away because my favorite colours are present in it,those being yellow and green.I have never before now have seen one of these birds but let me tell you that it is an attractive animal and one I would like to see for real. You have excellent colour and detail in this shot with just a little softness in the focus. An excellent overall image just the same and I thank you for showing this lovely creature to us all. Hi Smitha

Great image. The pale BG really sets him off. Good timing to catch this superb pose and the shot is well framed.

Hello Smitha,

This image have done justice to the name of the bird. Excellent sharpness and details right down to the bee. The diagonal branch make very nice perspective against clear sky. I like the plumage of this colorful bird shot from the back showing the signature tail here.

Well done and best regards.
