Hi Deborah
Wonderful composition with a great low POV.The isolation from the BG is great and the detail in the plumage is excellent (on my screen at least). I think you have shown the pluage off to great advantage.

Hello Deborah,
this is a great shot of a Jay!
Much better than I have managed: a tiny speck in the frame :)
+++ As James said the low-down eye-level POV is very effective.
The DOF is pretty good and blurs the BG well.
Bright colours and good lighting... the blue wing feathers stand out well but I think they could be more vivid so I did a workshop... I hope you don't mind!
--- Nothing, other than the slightly dull blue feathers :)
Well done,
Joe

Hello Deborah, what a beautiful and colourful bird that you captured. The depth of field is precise, it is very sharp and I like the small movement of the legs, giving movement. Thank you!

Sounds just like normal stellar jays here. Hard to photograph.
You managed this with real good focus. Sunlight was working with you too. Never have seen a jay like this before, so TFS. Sorry not around too much Deborah. Soon. Have a nice week. D

Hi Deb,
I've found my jays here to be quite shy & cautious as well. Far fewer opportunities to get a shot than many other birds..
Excellent detail, color, DOF, and you managed the ambient light well with great exposure.
I like this POV, with the bird looking at you too :)
Probably a bit less space right would be better IMHO.
Nice work,
Howard

I think your depth of field is quite good considering the focal length. The foreground and the bird are very sharp. Color looks natural and the exposure is perfect. I like the eye contact.
