The superb Duck mallard (Anas platyrhynchos), also called Duck malard, is the wild duck the best known one in the world. It is impossible not to recognize the male of this species when it is covered with its bridal plumage. The head and the neck, of a chatoyant green, are delimited by a white collar under which the plumage extends from the chest, of an intense chestnut. The lower parts and the sides are gray pale. The back and the wings are brown grisâtre and those are raised of a mirror (square spot of the wing more brilliant than the remainder of the plumage) purplished on the wing, close to the body. The tail blanchâtre, decorated of black on its two faces, is decorated of two turned up black feathers (see figure 1) on the line of centers of its higher face, a characteristic which makes it possible to distinguish a reproductive male. It has the yellow nozzle, and the orange legs and feet. The plumage of the female is coloured much less. The back of this one is mottled of brown and its chest, strongly striped, is chamois and brown dark. One recognizes especially the Duck mallard female with the mirror (brilliant spot on the wing, close to the body) bordered of white, similar to that of the male. The legs and the feet are orange, just like the nozzle, which is sometimes mottled of black.

Hi Joseph,
It is flying but photo is so good that like movingless on the air. POV great. Well done. TFS. Mustafa

Great shot! Wonderful detatil and focus, amazing sense of movement

Hello Joseph...
It is a big 'wow'
A beauty is a joy for ever; talking about the image!
Actually it is a thing of beauty:-)

Hi Joseph,
What a superb photo. The moment you have captured is just stunning. I like the fact that you got the head completely frozen but the wings in a slight motion blurr. The details are exceptionally good. The winter OOF BG did help to isolate this lovely lady perfectly.

Hello Joseph,
Very wonderful pose of this in-flight duck you present here.
I can see the very sharp and perfect focusing here, with excellent details and sharpness.
Well presented with very nice composition & POV as well.
TFS and best wishes,

salut Joseph

depuis quelques temps j'étais absent du forum, il y a quelques
minutes j'avais vu (mon oeil avait frappé) ton autre photo
