"Look at the Heavens above you! Everything you see in the sky moves in a path that is fixed. All the bodies there appear to give light. This has been going on long before you. It will happen during the time you are here and it will happen long after you are gone. They follow a law of movement that show you long lastingness. If you, as a human, want to find a meaning, a lasting meaning in your way of life, you must be as the four seasons. You will then understand what gives them the laws of their being. Look at thunder. Look at wind.".... and now look at the land under snow......

Mullein, snow, rocks, prairie, sky, sun, camera, me. All came together at the same time and same place yesterday on the edge of the place I call my home now. the prairie is groomed by the Creator and finishing touches by man who plant winter wheat here in hopes that feed will suffice until next years grain. And the grain which grows will fill your bowls as well as become an ingredient in your breads.

The mullein remains an eyesore to most who are totally unaware of its properties...and in this location, out of sight of the camera lens, is a highway that goes to a major university. Thousands of students pass by this every day and I say none of those would ever notice the mullein. It served a soft purpose for Native Americans who had to relieve themselves...but way beyond that it was a curative for colds, when the leaves were boiled and the flowers serve as well for a curative of the ear when it is in pain from infection. Not only this but infusion of mullein flower in oil relieves and melts the wax in the ear which gives a dynamic healing effect. Some wise men in a Book long ago, ended the words in each saying with ..."Let them who have ears....hear" .....and I say...hear the snow............

Hello Bob,
Beautiful depiction of how mother nature can alter a rolling agricultural landscape into a magical wonderland with a light cover of snow. In addition you have composed this to include low clouds that follow the curved horizon and given it depth with the FG of snow-covered stones and the dead stems of the greenery of the summer.
A remarkable shot and the hallmark of a skillful photographer.
Thanks for letting us share this beauty,
Ivan

I added this to my favorite's theme. :)
An amazing shot...I love the contrast of textures..the rocky snow covered foreground, the smooth frozen hills in the distance.

And mullein...I love that stuff! I also heard that people use the cord inside the stem as candle wicks. :) Nature is amazing!

Hello Bob,
Excellent image for meditation purposes:-)
It is well done; do like your composition, the elements, the colours, etc.

Wow, beautiful shot, I love the rolling meadow and the Rolling cloud formation behind it. Dusted with snow, very very pretty! TFS Have a great day!

This is nice. The sharpness and complexity of the foreground against the soft curves and shapes of the background and sky is quite effective. Color is very natural.

Hi Bob, this is such a wonderful landscape, I love the grace of the hills and the hilly clouds! I really like the superposition, like layers, of the different textures and colours with the rocks at the foreground, the golden-white lightly "scratched" hills and the blue sky on top. It is amazingly beautiful. And we let the mullein grow in the garden, I kind of like it and it grows everywhere around here. thanks a lot for this great note,

Francine

Hi Bob,

A nice image of the country scenery under a beautiful sky, the rocks in the foreground are giving depth to the photo. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Bob,
This is a prefered amount of snow!
Not so much you have to shuffle but enough to give this beautiful white cover...
Great light and the exposure is well done, good foreground interest and a well balanced composition!

Hello Bob,
The snow gives to the landcape a fineness you cannot see in an other season. It underlines the main structures and patterns and allows the mind to have a rest on the essence of nature.
Your subtle picture with its fine colours is of great purity, speaks not only to the eyes but mainly to the soul.
Thanks a lot
Anne

Bonjour Bob,

Hi Bob

I really like the layers in this picture as well. The folds in the land are great and the foreground adds so much to the picture. The layers of cloud and the blue sky above really add so much to this picture.
