|Another lunch break gift.|
One busy day of my final stage of PhD study, i had to pass the entire night in university. Towards midnight, i threw out some 'overripe' grapes to the central garden of the university, to support newly establishing microfauna but not the bacteria in the dustbin.
When the sun showed up in the garden, i went there for a walk to notice a brown (was green during night)grape with three ants waiting eagerly around a crack on it.
After some 5-6 hours, this time with my camera, i returned and saw the same scene: three ants forming a ring around the opening. Neither did they remove great pieces from the grape nor they drank from inside. Only they chumped quite seldomly the crack area and tasted small pieces in occasions.
My guess is they were ripening for the fermentation process. But what cheered the up so much, yeasts or alcohol, is a question to me.

You master the macro technique very well: the ants are trazorsharp, the flashlight is used with care. Your story is interesting ! I compliment you for this shot. As for the ants, could they be Cataglyphis?
My best regards
Oldukça başarılı bir makro. Tek bir karıncanın o çekrdeği sırtlayıp götürmekte olduğu bir fotoğraf da güzel olrdu. Eline sağlık,
Very nice this ant.
selamlar ümit! Sen de ii çıkarmışsın:) eline sağlık.

Excellent macro of these hard-working ants. Interesting sharp details and fine colours. Nice story too! Well done!
