[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A Subarctic Hawker (Aeshna subarctica) caught in the air. The dragonfly species is known as Subarctic Darner in America. The species is rather rare in most parts of western Europe but can be quite numerous on those locations where it occurs.
Especially the males can patrol around the shores of bogs and small lakes for hours. They are often hovering for a few seconds on the same spot and then quickly fly a few meters only to stop and hover again.
The image is cropped and is thus a bit noisy/grainy.

Hej Lars,
Welcome to TN!
Excellent in-flight capture of A. subarctica and fine frontal POV. Your focusing is just right in this fine composition.
I have yet to see this species in my area. Thanks for sharing this.
Best wishes from Åhus to you in Århus!

Hello Lars,
a fantastic species and even more so picture. Well seen and captured. Not easy to capture it as you did. I personally might have used the full 800 pixels for TN and have used a bit less tight crop. But anyway, it is a really nice image.
Regards, JAcob

Stunning shot Lars,
focus, sharpness, crop.. everything is just right. yes there is a little noise, but it does not matter in this case. This is extremely well captured shot.

Great capture with an excellent POV. Wonderful and a bit rare, too! Good job! Cheers, Klaus

Wonderful Head on shot Lars.
Very nice X wind of this rare Dragon Hawker.
Great Macro work.

Read your informative note Lars, but still, this is an extraordinary capture which demonstrates the perfect symmetry of the dragonfly in good focus as it hovers. TFS.

Hej Lars,
What a splendid start on TN! Nice to see you here! This capture is brilliant of this Hawker coming straight at you. They often do that and then turn sharply in the last second before they hit you! I love the sound of the wings! Brilliant composition, great focus, fine colours and a pleasant soft background.
TFS and regards, Ulla
