This little Robin was sat above my head singing his head off . He kept it up for a long time . I think he was singing that hard he made the leaf above him move. this was taken hand held in raw and then converted to Jpeg and resized for TN.

Robin ( Erithacus rubecula ) Length 14cm.
The Robin is one of the most familiar and popular garden Birds of all. The Robin is an aggressive species with the males sometimes fighting to the death to defend their territory.
The male and female are almost identical with brown crown, wings, upperparts and tail, a grey band along the sides of the breast, white belly and the famous red breast which is actually a deep orange colour. Juvenile Birds can cause confusion as they lack red in their plumage, being a rather dull spotty brown in colour.
Robins sing all year round, defending summer and winter territories with their fluty melodic song.
The Robin can be found in almost every garden as it is one of the tamest Birds, happily feeding alongside humans as they work. They will often take live food such as Earthworms or Mealworms from the hand.
Breeds from March to August building a cup shaped nest from grass and leaves lined with hair. Lays 4-6 pale blue-white eggs lightly spotted with red and incubates for 13-15 days. The young fledge after 12-14 days. They often have two broods

Hi Nick

Superb capture of the singing Robin, very nicely composed and I do like the frontal pose with the bird in full song, very good feather detail especially the ruffled feathers on its lower breast, lovely lighting and excellent colours.

Hello Nick
This is just superb....You and I both love Robins and I have never seen such a shot with the beak open from a front view...The light was obviously difficult with the right hand side of Rob in Shadow..But that by no means detracts from the picture.
It is in all reality a stunning shot and highlights your skills with what was a very difficult picture to capture.
A good Weekend to you and yours Nick.

Hi Nick,

The only thing better than a picture of a robin is one of a robin in the midst of a song. This is great! Not only is it a wonderful pose the colors are magnificent. Superb details of the face and plummage. This is special!

Hello Nick,
splenid shot very well timed, wpnderfull colours and great focus, very nice point of view and excellent composition,

looks like he is in full voice...different perspective and a nice composition...lovely image overall...TFS

Hi Nick

What a great catch!!! The pose and expression of the robin is just fantastic!
I really like the light on him, too - coming from the side, creating these nice shadows and also giving you that lovely catchlight.
Superb colors (both in the robin and the BG) as well as details.
Great work!

Bravo and TFS

Hello Nicholas -

This is a very nice image. The detail on the bird and the surround branches is superb. The exposure is spot on and you have a nice catch light in the eyes. Part of me thinks that a shallower DOF would have softened the branches in the BG as they appear to be slightly distracting. The other part of me, says this image is spot and leave everything a lone. So, where do I go now? I think it is OK regardless! Well done and presented.

Thank you for sharing.

A very fine rendering of this singing robin Nicholas, the low POV demonstrates the bird's characteristics perfectly against the bluish BG. TFS indeed!

Hi Nick,

I managed to get a very similar shot a couple of days ago, but there were more branches around making the shot a little busy. Yours is also sharper, but perhaps I'll post mine next week anyway - if nothing else to show just how good you are at this kind of thing.

I love that kind of picture of birds, with the blue, the branches, and most of all, the beautiful light that you used so well. The colour saturation is beautiful, the details show the plumage and all the lichens on the branches. What an abandoned singing robin, see the buds rise as the bird sings. Wow, that is spring coming, isn't it? Thank you Nicholas, c'est très beau,

Very good moment, Nicholas.
For instance I do like the colours and the DOF.
Well done

hello nicholas,
nice capture of robin a beautiful bird captured in such a nice posture, singing for you, lovely pov, beautiful colours,

The open mouth and crystal clean open would make a doctor of veterinary dentistry smile...if there was such a thing. Fine image!

What a shot, He looks as though he could belt out a tune or two,
Great detail and I love the pose,

Ha ha! The speed of the air coming out of his lungs must have been massive to make a whole leaf move :-)
He does look like a powerful singer!

Pin-point timing to capture him with his beak wide open!
Great clarity and detail.
Lighting seems harsh but you've handled it superbly!
Nice saturated colours.
Well done Nick!

Hi Nicolas!

Does she extol spring? Or is she just happy? The picture for sure is joyful and the colors are superb! I'm impressed by the richness of details and the contrast is perfect.

The Robin seems to sing to us... Who knows, maybe she does!

Kind regards

Hello Nick, spot on timing and wonderful focus. I like the heavy contrast and the lighting is just beautiful. The birds contral is nice and the pov looking down is just perfect. I do love robin shots. tfs Rgds Necip

Preciosa y adorable captura Nicholas, no es comun captarlos en esta actitud.

Hello Nick,

What a great capture!
This robin could be auditioning for a choir! He is putting lots of energy into the activity! A bird doctor would be able to see his tonsils! (If birds have such things!)

Superb image and lovely composition!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Nicholas

I miss watching Robins in Greenwich Park. They are interesting birds, probably because of their colors and sounds. Nice shot, good composition and POV. And perfect time to take the shot. Well done
