Very good macro, Alan.
IMO it's little to much space to the left.
Very good sharpness, colours and DOF.
Why do I live up in the north, we don't have any damsel-and dragonflies yet. ;-((. I'm soooo envious.

Hi Alan, very nice detailed shot. The focus and DOF are great. My only critisism would be the space behind the fly, although it doesn't distract from the quality of the shot it doesn't add anything. Apart from that it's a very nice job indeed.

Very nice Alan, the new lens seems to work well.
2 comments to make a fraction shallow on DOF , the far legs on the leaf could of been in focus too if you had set a slightly higher F number and still kept the OOF BG.
the other nit is the crop, IMO there is too much space behind, if you did not have the space to leave in front I would of cropped it square instead.
These are all minnor nits really this is a very good capture and the body details and colour are very good. TFS I presume you will return when ether the light or memory space runs out, which ever it is hope you had happy hunting.

This is beautifully sharp Alan and you have the whole of the abdomen in focus which, I know to my cost, is no mean feat. I agree with others about cropping out the space to the left but it has lots of detail, good BG and great colour. Thanks for sending it. I see we both have new macro lenses this week - fun isn't it? :)

A great shot Alan, you must be very pleased with your new purchase.
The colours and detail are fantastic. I personally feel that there is too much space on the left of the image.
Well done, this is great! Thanks for posting.

Alan its a striking capture both in color and contrasts. I agree with Paul and Robert that more impact could be added by cropping some of the space to the left. By stepping down to a smaller F-stop you would have had more DOF and the shallow DOF is barely noticable by the left eye and leaf just dropping out of DOF. I believe F5.6 or even F8 would have given the same result. Exceptional capture, very well done and congrats on the new lens.

I will vote this one, not only because it is a very nice shot well controlled in all aspects, but because it confirmed 100% the ident of one I shot yesterday. I would maybe crop some of the left only to post bigger and get some more details, the good quality worths showing :D
Thanks for sharing, Alan. Regards.
