Hi all!

It's still winter, isn't it? From the photographical point of view, as far as I'm concerned, it could be winter the whole year.

I discovered this leaf taken in a couple of different layers of ice and immediatly was fascinated by the image it offered to me. Packed in the ice, it looks ethernal, as if it would go on living, although it's death since a couple of weeks and unable to breath.

It fascinates me that simple things, depending on the way one looks at them, can get unexpected dimensions: a faded leaf and some ice can become beautiful and can initiate thoughtful moments. How can a dirty spot in the fade light of a pale winter sun offer me such a beauty?

Kind regards

Markus

N.B. I first had some problems when I wanted to take the picture. The autofocus was in trouble because of the uneven surface. You must imagine, although it may not be evident on the picture, that the surface is made of ice. I finally could set the focus on the leaf. The slight blurred effect that remains is natural and due to the icy surface.

RAW, level corrections, attenuation of the bright tones in PS, sharpness, crop and jpg for TN.

Hi Markus,
Very artistic shot and you have portrayed a natural phenomenon of nature so beautifully. Very impressive sharpness and I like your top POV to create this fascinating work of art. It always is a pleasure to see these kind os images and you have mastered it so well. Excellent composition. Kudos.
TFS.

Hello Markus,

Very well-composed picture. Great sharpness. I like the 3D effect. There is a twig on the left of the leaf, and I am not sure it would be so beautiful without it. Very nice colour.
Cheers,
Mariki

Hi Markus

I like this one the best out of all you abstract ice shots :)
You saw this leaf under the ice very well and you managed to take a very good photo of this interesting formation that it produces.
I know this is a leaf, but to me it also looks like a beautiful shell - you know the one with the wavy shape that can sometimes contain pearls :)
Anyway, the 3D shape and effect here are fantastic and very well rendered in your image.
I also like how you've managed to light and the focus too - spot on...exactly how i would have tried it.
The DOF is very good too and it reproduces everything in the frame with great details, while the natural colors are charming and enhance this slippery maze nicely.

Bravo and TFS
Horia

PS: ok....let's make a deal: you keep your winter there while i can have a nice early and warm spring here :))

I don't like it...

... I love it!
Once again you have proved yourself to have such an exceptional eye for a photo. Like Nick said, I would have walked by this without a second thought!
Wow what clarity and detail this photo has! We can see each trapped air bubble with superb sharpness.
Very good composition.
Perfect light.
Thanks very, very much for sharing this Markus!

Joe

Hello Markus

Another work of art!
Beauty can be found all around us if we just look, you are very good at doing this.
The iced leaves have an almost fossil like look.
The frozen in time feel is super.
Well seen and thought out.
TFS

Rob

Yes it is still winter! I can tell that you like winter's patterns. This one is especially nice. I love the repeating leaf edge pattern.

Interesting picture. So many colors, so fantastic image. Well done Markus!

Hi Markus,
A beautiful capture showing the frozen leaf. Very good patterns and lovely artistic capture. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hi Markus,

as I always say you go for something new every time. This time you captured something very frozen (ok, evident), but still looking like a movement! It looks as if it was just falling into the water leaving weaves behind...
And the always touching presentation, TFS!

Best regards,
Andor

Hi Markus,

Your images of leaves in the ice are simply stunning. They look good compressed and reduced for TN, but the originals nicely printed, must be stunning. Perfect abstract, lovely colours and so well seen. You have made me long for a return to icy-cold mornings, which is really a mark of how good these images are.

Mike

Hi Markus.I.m not so long time on TN,but what I see is very surprising. Its wonderfull what you REALY see.A great compliment.Greetings Willy...
