hello, here is a photo that i shooted
of a female Northern Cardinal in flight

i would like to see the background completely blurred
but after viewing and viewing and analysing my image
i came to the conclusion that i love better like that with
the bird's flight we can see the nature too with all the
trees and branches than a completely blurred background

this is only my second image of a Northern Cardinal female
my other image i posted a couple of weeks ago,
i have difficulty too shoot that timid Lady
and having done a shot in flight i am very happy

i was in JPEG format to could
double my 300mm zoom
and photo shot at ISO400

from « All about birds » website :

« The female Northern Cardinal sings,
often from the nest. The song may give
the male information about when to bring
food to the nest. A mated pair shares song phrases,
but the female may sing a longer and slightly
more complex song than the male. »

for the complete text go to this webpage :

thanks for viewing and critiques

So that is the shot we've been waiting for! I tried some in-flights over the weekend but small birds such as those are a next step for me. It'll take me a long time before I come up with something decent.
You've got an interesting capture here. You can clearly see the action and even a 1/4000th of a second didn't completely freeze this bird. Great shot.

Best Regards,

Martin

Hello Asbed. Nicely captured cardinal in flight. Good sharpness around the head against the natural background which IMO is the right decision on your part. Thanks for sharing this and best regards. Jusni

What a wonderful stroke of luck you had!!! I am so sure you were happy when you saw this one come out as it did. Sometimes good things happen to good people and you deserved this. Congratulations!
Bob

Bellissima immagine nonostante tutte le difficoltà di cattura, molto bella la composizione con l'uccello diretto verso il punto di ripresa che esalta l'effetto tridimensionale. Complimenti. Complimenti. Ciao Maurizio

Hi Asbed,

Finally we get to see your Lady. And a lovely lady she is. I love the position of the wings! Nice colors and a strange expression on her face and a nice sparkle in her eye. I think the trees add a lot to this picture and she is very well framed by them.

Hello Asbed
I missed this picture last night and I am glad I have caught it today.
You have done extremely well on what is one of the hardest shots to capture.
Small birds move so very quickly so you either need good luck or a plan and patience.
The background doesnt really matter at all about being blurred..You can plan the bg when you have planned the capturing tecnique...Take it from me it is a long slow process!!
All that said it is a great capture and one to be proud of..(I would be)
Best regards
Paul

Hi Asbed.
It is really rare picture. You have frozen the bird perfectly. Great exposure parameters, you are right. Especially I like eye-contact between bird and you. I also like exposure of the image despite the contrast subject. Bravo and TFS.
Alexei.

Hello Asbed,
Well done! This is a great shot of the female Northern Cardinal in flight and it is coming straight at you! You must have been very quick! Great focus on the eye and fine details and colours. I like the bit of the tail showing and the natural background.
Many thanks, Ulla
