[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is taken in Masai Mara in Kenya.

Again, Not sure what this bird is yet. I like to say Red tail Hawk but look too big to be one. Some kind of brown eagle, Maybe.

Okay someone told me it's a Steppe Eagle, and kebapci said it's a tawny eagle (Aquila rapax). I looked it up. I can't tell the difference and They are closely related. Anyone wants to dispute. If not I'll go with "tawny eagle"

Hi Way, very nice capture of eagle. I would choice portrait crop to show much more from high quality details of your shot in limited conditions of trek presentation.

Hi Way
Very good capture
Fine detail in the feathers
Great pose
tfs jon

I think it is a tawny eagle (Aquila rapax). The dark wing tip, nostrils, size, shape of beak are my clues.

The red tailed hawk is not found except N America. But this type of 'uhm...this, that' sentences are becoming ridiculous as hawkers tend to mess up things everywhere. No surprise even tough in Africa.

In steppe eagle gape extend beyond eyes and throat is sometimes pale

The capture is an A plus photo, didnt i mention about that :)

Lovely clear image and well composed. This is almost certainly a Tawny.

hello Way

it is a Tawny or Steppes Eagle - Aquila rapax because yesterday
i was looking on members and their photos and i saw this image

you did a superb shot with that proud pose of the eagle,
excellent luminosity of the image, great POV & excellent framing,
wonderful background, and excellent sharpness & details, TFS

Hello Way

A lovely composition, the lighting is wonderful.
Great focus with sharp detail.
The plumage is well defined with excellent sharpness.
This eagle looks very similar to a Golden Eagle.
It looks like there is room for another eagle .

Superb shot, well exposed with good sharpness and detail. The background is particularly pleasing and complements the rich colors the late afternoon sun gave the bird.

One thing bothers me though: the broken branch on the right. I did a workshop to get rid of it. Smile.

Hello Way,
"High and proud" indeed!:-)
I like your Masai Mara image.
Thank you for sharing...
