|This is a long shot taken on a shy bird, the pileated woodpecker. He is the black and red image low on the old maple tree. Notice the chips he has worked up. he is digging for insects, and his excavation is 6 inches deep by 3 feet long in this rock(sugar)maple.|

i am seeing the Pileated Woodpecker at work, we can see the red
of his head, excellent try to shoot this shy bird as you wrote,
wonderful nature image of a Woodpecker on action
did you try an slowly approach to be closer to the bird ?
