[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is another one of my images to feature in an upcoming exhibition. This one is a 20x30in print that will be framed. Print is on Breathing Colour Velvet paper which is a lightly textured 100% cotton fine art paper.

The really hard part about shooting these guys with the intent to create large prints is making sure you use all of the camera's sensor data. This one is full frame with a small crop off of the bottom of the image. I got lucky with this one...a lot of images go into the trash can due to clipped wings and the like.

Thanks for looking.

Australasian Gannet

Māori made expeditions to the rocky breeding grounds of gannets, or tākapu, catching the young birds for food and the adults for their bones and plumage. Bones were fashioned into chiselling tools and used for applying elaborate facial moko (tattoos). The valuable white feathers were used to decorate canoes, or were worn by high-ranking individuals.

Hello paul,

Excellent pose of these wonderful bird, the white and black wings give an nice composition against the blue sky.
Also the head and beak with eye are very well.
Thanks for sharing.

Best regards,

Very excellent shot of this Gannet Paul. I wish I could get down to Aukland in April to see the show. I like the light in this, and of course the fact that it's full size and not cropped, very impressive. The colour and detail are very good, the composition is perfect with the bird perfectly positioned, and the one wing dropped to help fill the frame. Very nice.

Thanks, John
