[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note

Easter is coming but when I look out of my window it seems that it is Christmas time. Spring in Poland came with snow and cold.

So today I want to present the picture of Hepatica nobilis (przylaszczka in Polish). Its systematic position is the following:
Kingdom: Plantae
Division: Magnoliophyta
Class: Magnoliopsida
Order: Ranunculales
Family: Ranunculaceae.

This flower has very characteristic leaves - they look like the lobes of the liver and from this feature its latin name is derived. Flowers are as you can see violet or bluish.

Hepatica belongs to geophyte species - these are the species that appear early in the spring before trees have got leaves. When the leaves grow up and in the forest became dark they are finishing flowering and their life cycle, but their leaves stay green.

I cropped the picture, enhance contrast and sharpen.

Hope you like it and best wishes for all of you for Easter.

Hi Ania.
What a nice first flowers of the spring. I like wonderful sunlight illumination and vivid colours of the shot. Carpet from dry grass and leaves supplements the tender main subject perfectly. I like exact DOF, nice details of the flowers and blurred a bit BG. MY best wishes and compliments.

Very fine capture, the colours are stunningly vivid, the background enhances the overall composition. TFS

Nice capture.

Happy Easter form the Holy Land where the temperatures are already (prematurely) above 30 °C!

Buen encuadre, bonitos colores pero sobre todo unos contrastes delicados que hacen que sea una toma muy atractiva.

Your critique on my Hoverfly picture needs to be reciprocated and it has been apleasure to go back into your portfolio since you have not posted new images for quite some time, Ania.I find this cluster of spring flowers you shot in 2005 very enticing and decorative. The colours on them are truly beautiful.
Very crisp and well composed shot.
Thanks and post new pictures.

Hi Ania,
i like this purple flowers very much. With the soft petals from the good light, it aldo presents a good visual effect by the stamens.
You have taken it in a very natural surrounding which is very well composed.
You also have given a good category of this nice specie.
well done.
I also notice that you have many varieties of subjects in your gallery which is so exciting to learn from.
