Please correct me if I am wrong about the bee species.

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Insecta
Order: Hymenoptera
Suborder: Apocrita
Family: Apidae
Subfamily: Apinae
Genus: Apis
Subgenus: (Apis)
Species: A. cerana
Common Names: Asiatic honey bee, Eastern honey bee, ผึ้งโพรงไทย

This species is a sister species of Apis koschevnikovi, and both are in the same subgenus as the Western (European) honeybee, Apis mellifera.

Apis cerana is a small honey bee found in southern and southeastern Asia, including all the countries of the Himalayan region (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan) as well as Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Thailand, Vietnam, and probably other countries.

Apis cerana is still found in the wild, where it nests in tree holes, fallen logs, and crevices. It is one of the few bee species that can be domesticated.

The Flower

Kingdom: Plantae
Division: Magnoliophyta
Class: Magnoliopsida
Order: Asterales
Family: Asteraceae
Genus: Cosmos
Species: C. sulphureus
Common Names: Sulfur Cosmos, Yellow Cosmos, ดาวกระจาย

This species of Cosmos is considered a half-hardy annual, although plants may re-appear via self-sowing for several years. Its foliage is opposite and pinnately divided. The plant height varies from one to seven feet. The original and its cultivars appear in shades of yellow, orange, and red. It is especially popular in Korea and Japan, where it is often seen in mass plantings along roadsides.

Hi Jitti,

The flower alone would be beautiful but the bee is really a bonus. Beautiful colors, wonderful details, and a lovely picture.

Hello JC. Another mastery composition in excellent color, lightness and details. Pleasantly contrast against the muted green bg. Well done and best regards. Jusni

Hello JC,
This is a lovely in-flight capture!
The insect seems very determined as it is approaching the delicate flower...
A well balanced composition, fine natural colours and the macro job is well done!

Hi JC,
I'm getting a bit jealous seeing all those colorful pictures as we still deal with snow conditions. Mind you it's really nice seeing those fabulous color packet shots to brighten the day.
Great macro, the colors and sharpness are wonderful.

Amazing shot of the Honey Bee hovering over the flower, JC.
I can see it holding some stuff around its leg.
Very crisp capture at 1/800.

Hello Jitti,
Excellent in-flight of an Asian Honey Bee. The sharpness and POV are superb: you can clearly see the loaded pollen bags on the legs and the composition with the Yellow cosmos flower is pleasing.

Hello Jitti,
Great capture of a Bee in flight on its way to a very pretty flower. Great focus and excellent details of both. Beautiful colours too. A little pity about the flower stalk in front but it could be cloned away. Still a fine composition.
Many thanks, Ulla
