Hello friends in TN.

This butterfly was captured close to the swimming pool where I stayed in Langkawi for the Nikon Photohunt Langkawi 2008.

Euchrysops cnejus cnejus (Gram Blue)

The male of the Gram Blue is light purple whilst the female is rather heavily black-dusted with the wing bases pale shining blue. The underside is pale buff, with the usual lycaenine markings as spots and striae. The spots in the costal and basal areas of the hindwing are black and very distinct. The black submarginal spots near the tails are edged with metallic green scaling and inwardly crowned with orange. The species also possesses a pair of string-like tails.
The species is common in localized areas where its food plant can be found. The host plant is a creeper-like "pea plant" with three leaves on a node. The plant has yellow flowers and pea-like processes on which the female is often observed laying her eggs. The Gram Blue prefers open areas flying low on grassy waste places.

Regards.

Hello Jusni,
Beautiful Gram Blue. Markings on wings and colors are fantastic. Very nice pov. However, the focus seem to be at the wrong place. TFS.

Hi Jusni,
A nice capture of this gram blue over the cycas leaves. Excellent details and a lovely composition. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hello Jusni,

Lovely macro image you are showing us here today.
Very good composition and most wonderful soft color tones in the background.
Also love the color contrast very much.
Looks like the top of the wing is a little out of focus, might have been better to use f8.0 or even a bit more to get that part in focus to due to more depth of field, and the image gould use a little more sharpness in my opinion.
Nevertheless a very nice image at wich it is a real joy to look at.
TFS!!!

Best wishes, Harry

I have never heard of this hunt. It sounds like you are really having a great time there in your imaging....I too..I took the day and covered a major home fire in which 3 Chinese families lost the house they owned..a sad story but a good one for an old photojournalist as me...

And as to this image...it is a VERY unique one..The "things" in the pho9t are so attractive that they draw me to the words in notes...and then back again and that is what photojournalism is all about! You should be a reporter! Swell work in this and that as well!
Bob

I like how you rotate the image to make the butterfly look like a beautiful painted fan. Nice color, not as well focus but good enough. I enjoyed it. Thanks

Hello Jusni,
A great capture of a Gram blue that shows the underside of the wings with good overall sharpness, the hindwing eye marking being extra sharp. I like the composition on the fern shoot and it contrasts nicely against the neutral BG.
Thanks for sharing this little beauty,
Ivan

Jusni, Lovely angle and great view. Sharp shot and good clarity. Ganesh

Hi Jusni,
The best and the most important part here is the BG which is helping in highlighting the subject. Then is the absolutely perfect lighting / exposure. Very nice details captured both on the butterfly and the leaf. Great composition!

TFS

Hi Jusni,
Wonderful shot of this upside-down Gram Blue with such lovely colours and sharp markings on its wings. The green fern presents a fabulous perspective and contrast. Good use of flash lighting and a fine DOF achieved. Excellent POV and composition. Kudos.
TFS.

Even if sharpness is not at 100% this one is also like a little jewel in your gallery. It's so marvellous and beautiful its composition. I do love it!
Thank you very much for sharing.
Greetings

Hi Jusni, wonderful one! The color contrasts are beautiful, the beauty stands out so well against the brown, almost similar coloured BG with side lighting.
Sharpness and DOF are nice too.
TFS and have a nice new day MF!
Cheers,

Bayram
