[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A pair of Plebejus argus on their host plant Lotus corniculatus (Birdfoot deervetch). The large dark band at the edge of the male's wings is characteristic of the species. The biology of the caterpillar is amazing : they are myrmecophylic, i.e. they are taken care of by ants (just like aphids are and for the same reason). It seems that the presence of the P. argus eggs and then caterpillars is enough to justify the founding of a new ant colony (Lasius sp.) presumably because the honeydew secreted by the caterpillar is an abundant and regular source of food for them...
Other species of Blues are myrmecophylic, but they often feed on the ant's larvae and nymphs.

Excelent work.

Checked your site, got it in my faves as a guide. Thanks.
Something else, I have posted a male and female sphaerophoria scripta, according to my research and you and Paul. You saw the male, find the female, you'll be surprised. !!!
