The Praying Mantis
 |
|
[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Due to the brown color and green stripe I think this is a Chinese Praying Mantis. Tenodera aridifolia sinensis is the scientific name. Apparently they originated in China but are now at home in the US. I actually found a website that sells them as pets in the UK!
PP on this is a simple unsharp mask and resize, no cropping. The next picture I took was the extreme close up I posted earlier. http://www.treknature.com/gallery/North_America/United_States/photo1276.htm
She was a very cooperative model! :-)
Also, if anybody else has an idea what species this is, please let me know. I am interested in learning more about the green mantis I found near by. I originally thought they were "together" but now I am uncertain. You can find a picture of that one in the mantis theme. Thank you so much! |

Belle photo bien composée pour cette mante, bonnes couleurs et netteté. Elle rappelle la mienne par son regard...
Well done !
Nice capture. With lots of details. I think the composition would have been improved if you rotated the photo to put the mantis on the diagonal. Still a nice catch. Thanx for sharing. I've not seen this species before.

Excelente imagen Laurita de un ejemplo de mimetismo grandioso.
Bellos colores, muy buena nitidez y aceptable DOF.
Tal vez podrías si lo permite el original, rotar unos grados la imagen para darle una perspectiva en diagonal.
Bien hecho.

Beautiful colors, very good clearness and acceptable DOF.
Perhaps you could if it allows the original one it, rotate degrees the image to give a perspective him in diagonal.

Very nice capture of this master predator Laurita. Very nice colours and very good dof to set him off from the background - lots of details.
