I love cats and this is a superb male, strong faced and lotof character. Lucky you to get so close to them, they are fantastic animals. I wish I could smell one one day. Beautiful picture, shot with skills. I like the blurred grass moving all around the leopard, the beautiful natural colours found in it displaying this beauty. The leopard is stunning, beautiful and the coat is well seen. Thanks!

Wonderful portrait shot again James.
Love the way the Leopard is partly hided in between the high grassess.
Pity there's a piece of grass in front of the left eye, but you cant have it all......can you :)
Wonderful soft color tones, calrity in the eyes, details and patterns.
Excellent work again on sharpness and exposure.
Have a great weekend,
Harry

Hello James,
Incredible to be able to see this animal at such close range! This male has a really big head and he doesn't look too friendly! Brilliant capture though, very sharp and fine colours. Well done!

Hello James
There arent many situations when you struggle to fit the subject in the frame even with the 400..Superb focusing and the f2.8 has created a wonderful dreamy bg to compliment gaze of the leopard..(thats one brave whatever it was to pick a fight with a leopard!!)

Hi James. This must have been one of your best trips looking at the pictures of the big cats. This is a fantastic close up of the Leopard . i like the DOF you have captured making the eyes look even more sharp . great use of the light giving natural colurs. I like the odd stand of grass it looks so natural. well done TFS.

Man oh man James...I love your nature shots almost as much as your geology shots. You truly are as eclectic as me. I run the gamut from birds top landscape to NASCAR to accidents and ambulance chasing...and on it goes...but you ...it seems you are not a Type A. You are man who takes his time and thinks things out...in a hurry perhaps at times in your own way but in the ways of the world, you are truly good at this.

Wow!... What an amazing story you describe here. This animal is a beauty. I would be much impressed to have lived this unique moment. I never had the chance to see a big feline in the wild. Details show its story and probably hard life. This is wonderful! TFS,
Claudine

hi James,
uou.. scary. The only cat i don´t like is the domestic cat... but i´m no sure if i would like to be close to this guy...
I love details over the skin and how you have taken the way he is looking at somewhere...or someone! It´s great, I can´t stop looking at it... you have shot the eyes of a cold hunter, and that´s not so easy... my compliments to you!! very well done
have a nice day! and take care of this little and cute animals

Yes, the marks on the muzzle show this chap had had a tiff with another Leopard, I guess, James.
My, what intense, piercing eyes this elegant creature has!
This is a wonderful portrait, indeed.
I recall seeing my last Leopards in a dingy cage in a dingy zoo at Shimla in August of 2006. There were two of them. When I went close to the cage to take pictures, the female growled and then leapt at the wire-mesh. Though there was no danger, my heart fluttered with some atavistic fear after the experience.
Best regards,
Ram

Very fine image of this Leopard!
This guy has one hell of a look on his face :-)
Excellent POV and composition.
Lovely lighting.
The DOF is a tad too shallow but too much shutter-speed would have been compromised and it was low already!
Very well done James!
