Just when you thought your battery would last....

one of the last photos i could take 2 days ago on my
usual morning walk at the rhine shortly before my
camera´s battery was empty...and of course i had
forgotten to take a fresh one with me.

This is the well-known, often showed, but always cute
Blue Tit (Parus caeruleus).

Thanks & have a great day! :-)

***********************

The Blue Tit, Cyanistes caeruleus (often still Parus
caeruleus), is a 10.5 to 12 cm long passerine bird in
the tit family Paridae. It is a widespread and common
resident breeder throughout temperate and subarctic
Europe and western Asia in deciduous or mixed
woodlands. It is a resident bird, i.e., most birds do
not migrate.

The azure blue crown and dark blue line passing through
the eye and encircling the white cheeks to the chin
give the Blue Tit a very distinctive appearance. The
forehead and a bar on the wing are white. The nape,
wings and tail are blue; the back is yellowish green;
the under parts mostly sulphur-yellow with a dark line
down the abdomen. The bill is black, the legs bluish
grey, and the irides dark brown. Young Blue Tits are
noticeably more yellow. This is a common and popular
European garden bird, due to its perky acrobatic
performances when feeding on nuts or suet. It swings
beneath the holder, calling tee, tee, tee or a scolding
churr.

The song period lasts almost all the year round, but is
most often heard during February to June.

Hello Thorsten,

Acrobat is a correct description!
These little birds are quick and very entertaining as the hang upsidedown or perch at difficult angles!
I like the composition of your shot.
The image is very sharp and the details are very good. A nice touch is the way the leaf is casting a shadow on the bird's breast.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Nice sharp and bright a great shot.

Hello Thorsten,
What a cute picture of this lovely acrobatic bird! Good that your battery lasted a little more for this. Excellent details and beautiful natural colors.
My compliments and best regards
Maite

A real acrobat this is Thorsten and you've captured the scene greatly.
In my younger years I could do the same, but don't dare to do it anymore hanging around on a branch like this.......lol!!!
Very beautiful technically perfect image.
Sharpness, exposure and composition, with the diagonall line of the Tit, tail pointed at the lower right hand corner and head pointed at the upper left hand corner, are superb.
Most wonderful details, colors, color contrast and clarity.
Outstanding work and great note. TFS!!!

Best regrds, Harry

Eine tolle Fruehlingskomposition.

I agree, often shown, but I never get tired of seeing these little birds. The chickadees as well. You've got a great capture here with wonderful detail and color. I especially like how we get to see his grasp on the branch. Nice job!

Hi Thorsten

Don't we all know that helpless feeling for something that has such an easy solution, but the resolution is just too far away. Spare batteries are never where they are needed when they are needed in a moment of emergencies like these. That's why it's called: "Sod's law".

Well at least one of the last shots you managed to capture before your camera died due to insufficient energy was a neat shot. This little upside-down tit is hanging on for dear life and it gave you a cute pose in the process. You made good use of the opportunity and made a good composition of it. The lovely blue sky is a great BG and the details are absolutely marvellous.

Well done MF and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hi Thorsten.
Your acrobat is amazing and very cute. At whole pictured scene is wonderful. Its composition is perfect. I like great lighting and vivid colours, superb wide DOF and impressive details of the entire image. You managed reflect every feather of the tit and tiny details of the flowers. Bravo. Great work.
Alexei.
P.S. It is a pity only that your wife's girlfriend has relations in Kiev, not in Odessa.
