[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,

Today I am posting my first ever shot of a jackdaw.
This particular jackdaw was on the bank of Lake Windermere. A sudden ray of sun was shining down on it, and my camera captured the irridescence of the feathers. Its black cap really stood out!

These birds seemed to be very sociable and gathered together in groups mixed with equal numbers of seagulls. They were constantly jostling for places on the posts of the jetty, or, as this shot demonstrates, walking purposely around looking for food.

Although not cute, I have a very soft spot for these birds as, when I was about 10 years old, I had one as a pet. Finding it injured, I kept it for many weeks and it used to sit on my shoulder like a parrot. I was 'encouraged' to let it go free when, one day, it pecked all the buds from my father's tomato plants in the greenhouse!

Many thanks for stopping by.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph. :-)

Hello Beverly
What a splendid capture of this beautiful jackdaw! I like a lot the greyish tones of its plumage and eye. Good focus, DOF and details.
Congratulations and TFS

Hello Beverley,

Every bird is pretty in its own way and this one is no exception to that.
It still amazes me that they can fly so well and I can't :)
Looks like the bird is walking away from you.
I like the pose very much.
Very nice details and color tones in the feathers.
Very good exposure. Did you use flash?
Very well done again. TFS!!!

Kindest regards, Harry

Hi Bev!
What a beautiful capture and beautiful bird [not ugly, but bad voiced :)] capture! All are perfect my friend.
Greetings from Cyprus,

Hi Bev,

I think this Jackdaw is beautiful. The blacks and greys of his head, face, and plummage are wonderful. Excellent colors and details. A lovely pose and a nice natural setting. He is very handsome and he might be insulted that you said he's not a pretty bird :-)

Hi Bev

I really like jackdaws - they are quite friendly and inquisitive - and always hang round old castle and abbey ruins.

This is a lovely shot showing the silvered head and pale eye perfectly.

Hi Beverley,

This Jackdaw you have captured seems to be afraid of the camera or a bit shy. Nice pose and composition, sharp details and good DOF.

I think I may his brother over here:-) Yours in image much succeeds anything I haev done. I shall keep on..good show Bev...
