I chased this little American Oystercatcher (Haematopus palliatus) and his mate for about a half hour, literally was I was running after them and they were running in front of me, I think they found that amusing because they didn't bother to fly, I would stop, they would stop, I would run, they would run.. And every time I would get close enough I would take a few pictures and them run after them again.. It was very fun, when we finally got near the Hotel they finally flew away, probably intimated by other people approaching.

Fun fact:

In the 1800s they became locally extinct in the northeast due to market hunting and egg collecting. After receiving protection under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, their range extended northward to re-occupy historical habitat in New England.

Hi Everton,

I've never gone down to Sonora but after seeing your photos I would like to. Sounds like you had fun with this Oystercatcher and you ended up with a good shot. I love the pose at the edge of the water. Excellent details of the face, plummage and legs. The orange beak matches the eye ring.

Funny story, Everton. Guess many friends just know what you are talking about...
Beautiful red and yellow eye.

Hi Everton, lovely portrait of splendid bird, superb colors, great details and excellent sharpness, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi Everton . have not seen you a few days i hope you are well. I like the pose of the bird just looking out to sea. You picure shows the red eye ring and bright bill sowell good detail in the feathers. well done TFs.

hello Everton

superb shot of this water bird with his amazing eye,
very fine POV, framing, and DOF, lovely luminosity
of the image, with great sharpness and details, TFS

Hello Everton,

Very beautiful contrast between the duller color tones of the water and the sand, the black and brown feathers of the Oystercatcher and the most wonderful bright colors of the eye and bill of the bird.
Excellent composition, sharpness and exposure due to wich the details in the feathers and patterns in the sand and water are greatly visible.
The bird does stand out perfectly against the softer color tones of the BG.
Excellent work. TFS!!!

Best wishes, Harry

Hi Everton,
Wonderful profile shot of this naughty bird and it really made you work for this image. Lovely colours and details on its plumage and the red eyes and bill looks awesome. Nice pose captured near the surf and waiting for a catch. The bright sunlight makes the image look lively. Excellent POV cinsidering your predicament and very nicely composed. Kudos.
