*Turning the Eggs*

|What was first - the swan or the egg?*g*|
For the second year in a row the Swans are breeding at
my next door pond in the Blücher Park.
While i was checking how things were going she got up
and had a look at her babies - and this was the one
lucky shot i got of that...unfortunately the light was
a bit harsh, but i thought it would be interesting to
Swan eggs are greenish and have a size of 115 x 75 mm
and a weight of about 350g.
Normally there are 5-10 eggs and the breeding time is
around 35 days. 1 egg is laid every 48 hours and
the real breeding starts normally after the last egg
is there, so that the chicks all hatch around the same
...in the mean time 6 baby-swans have hatched.
photos of them will follow later.

A fitting composition that is more of dedication to Mother's Day. The PoV is really excellent with the way you have the mother swan bending over the eggs as she waits them to hatch.
I tried a workshop to work on tyhat white exposure at the corner. Hope you wont mind.
TFS & Cheers
Good interest Thorsten,
The bird is definitely doing something, always a plus..
Great DOF/detail, and a good perspective of the egg management procedure :)
Well done & TFS,

Wonderful shot of this mother swan tending its eggs. Nice tender moment captured with very impressive sharpness and colours. I like the surrounding wher it has laid the eggs and the way she bends over to see. Superb lighting and exposure levels. Excellent DOF, POV and composition. Kudos.
Excellent capture of this Mute Swan taking care of the eggs. Great composition, nice pose, sharp details, very good lighting and natural bright colours.
