Dear Friends,
I just came back from this amazing trek to the source of the Tirthan in the Great Himalayan National Park. Was rewarded by plenty of wildlife ...the Himalayan Black Bear to start with.
This trek is a seven day trek taking one from an altitude of 2100 meters to 4000 meters plus. One crosses dense forests and plenty of wildlife to reach a supernatural phenomena of the origen of Tirthan. Tirath , the source in Hindi means a pilgrimage and it sure is.

I take it that the bear was in his natural habitat? One day I'd love to go on a long trek and discover new animals - what I mean is, new to me, that is, seeing them 'live' in the wild.
This bear seems to be ignoring you and while slightly out of focus, I understand not being able to get closer! Still, I like seeing his surroundings and I also envy your adventure. I have an excellent idea of the size of this bear - nice job on that. :)
