I caught this Blue Morpho butterfly, Morpho peleides, taking a rest at the Franklin Park Conservatory.

The Peleides Blue Morpho is an iridescent tropical butterfly found in Mexico, Central America, northern South America,Paraguay and Trinidad.

Blue Morpho butterflies live in the rainforests of South America, and can be found in Mexico and Central America.The wingspan of the Blue Morpho butterfly ranges from 7.5 cm to 20 cm.

your picture shows the butterfly Morpho peleides from the Nymphalidae subfamily Morphinae which is not a resident of the US (in contrast to Enodia portlandia, a much smaller species of the subfamily Satyrinae).

Very sharp and detailed with wonderful rich colours. You have done a wonderful job showing him in this pose.
The Blue Morpho is such a spectacular butterfly. One would never know just how beautiful they really are, if they only seen them with their wings folded.
