[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi Folks , todays upload is of a Western tailed blue , it gains this name from the small hair like tails on the ends of its wings , although very similar to a feature of the Hairstreaks , behavioral studies indicate that this is a True Blue butterfly.

the under side of the wing is very pale , marked with black spots , at the rear of the wing there is a very distinctive marking of orange silver and black spots (see workshop).

this butterfly is fairly common to see from mid May to August , typically see at forest edges or in grassy clearings.

thanks for stopping in

Very good image, Art.
You have one wing completely sharp plus very good light...
Well composed. Nicely blurred BG.
Well done

Hi Art

Looks very much like the common Blue that we see around here. Nice deatils in the wings along with the antenae.

Top work.

Hello Art,
a beautiful and technically perfect picture of this Lycaenide butterfly.
Well focused on the body axis, the antennae and the right wings which all ly in the same plane.
Colours, reflectance and light are pleasant and pretty good.
Best wishes, Peter

Hi Art,

A very beautiful butterfly with lovely greys, blues and white. Interesting notes about the tail-like hairs on the wings which seem to distinguish it from other blue butterflies. Good position to show off the pretty wing markings.

Very nice Art. I have put it in with my other 'blue things' theme...it is a group theme...and oddly there are quite a few of this species...yours is a super fine close in and very nicely seen from a good and unique angle.

Hello Art,
Excellent portrait of this Blue. Very good colour and detail. I will be in eastern Oregon in late July, early August. What should I look for?

Hello Art,
Don't have much time, very beautiful photo.

The detail on this is wonderful. Also, I love the angle you've taken this from. It gives us a chance to see the entire body as well as the wing.

Hello Art

I love this capture.
I have had problems chasing these guys around and getting them with their wings open is a bonus.
Lovely rich colours and good use of lighting.
The textures are great.

It is one of the most beautiful butterflies I have seen.
And since I am a biologist, I have seen many.
Congratulations, I loved it!
Bye, Bye
