Hello my friend,
I come back to TN after one week break. Sorry again, I couldnt visit your posts.
Two days ago, I went to Adana for a international meeting. Also I visit Çukurova University's beautiful campus where located along Seyhan Dam Lake. The scene from visitor house looks like a bit Manhattan in USA, with tower blocks on the other side of the lake.
Well, this is Garrulus glandarius Linnaeus, 1758 – Alakarga [TR], Jay [EN], my favourite corvid species. I saw three individuals together and they looked for some edible things under cypress trees.
There are 10 species of the family CORVIDAE in Turkiye. They are listed here;
* Garrulus glandarius – Alakarga (Jay)
* Pica pica – Saksağan (Magpie)
* Nucifraga caryocatactes – Göknar Kargası (Nutcracker)
* Pyrrhocorax graculus – Sarıgagalı Dağkargası (Alpine Chough)
* Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax – Kırmızı Gagalı Dağkargası (Chough)
* Corvus monedula – Küçük Karga (Jackdaw) (1st from Turkiye, 2nd from Cyprus)
* Corvus corone
a. C. c. corone – Kara Leş Kargası (Carrion Crow)
b. C. c. pallescens – Leş Kargası (Hooded Crow)
* Corvus ruficollis – Çöl Kuzgunu (Brown-Necked Raven)
* Corvus corax – Kuzgun (Raven)

Of these, N. caryocatactes is only known, with an old record, from İstanbul.

The photo was taken, walking on road among faculties and my camera on hand. It was just before dusk and the bird was under dark shadow of trees.

Thanks for your visiting, best wishes to all of you.

Hi Ahmet,

Welcome back from your trip! Of course this is a bird I have never seen and I am enchanted by him. I love the face and that perky pose. Razor sharp details of the beak, eye, head, wings, plummage, tail feathers, even the legs. Wonderful natural colors and setting.

Hi Ahmet,
We have quite a few Jays down in the woods by my house.They make a lot of noise and always seem to escape my lens.This one was well captured and good handling of the exposure to make it stand out from its rather similar coloured background.Seems to be eyeing you up!
Regards, David

Hello Ahmet,
Yet another beautiful subject that looks curious, interested in what is going on behind your camera and has been cpatured with good clarity and sharpness.It looks almost merging with the ground aroud in its colours.JUst wondering about the colours on its plumage..is this a juvenile?

A shot very well done.

Hello Ahmet,
A fine capture of the Turkish Jay G. glandarius atricapillus, one of several subspecies. Our subspecies glandarius lacks the black cap.
You made good use of the fading light by taking a sharp capture from a fine POV.
TFS this fine image,
Best wishes to you and your family,

Salut Ahmet
Superbe oiseau , très belle photo bien réussie. Personnellement les geais bleu que nous avons ici au Quebec sont mes préférés. Je te trouves bien chanceux.
Bravo et au revoir...JP
