This feller looks kinda dangerous. What a macro though! The robberfly is impressive, but what helps is the framing, composition, and the sharpness. Because you did such a good job with this capture, when it first popped on my screen, I reared my head back. :)

Nice to see you back here again, my friend! I hope you had a great time and took a lot of nice photos on those field trips you were on.

This is a lovely macro shot, with impeccable details on this robber fly.
The hairy texture on its body is so well visible here!
The DOF of your shot is also great and, together with the excellent low POV, distances the suject well from the BG.
Excellent job, in all aspects!

PS: i actually thought of writing to you today anyway :) I started taking Odonatas more and more seriously (even though i'll start my PhD in reptiles in September) and i was wondering if you have any larvae determinator in any sort of format. If you do, i would really be grateful if you could somehow send me a copy :)

Excellent shot of this robber fly. Composition, POV, DOF and sharpness are great. Very well-managed light, not easy with these hairy and black guys. Good natural colours. I like its pose :-)

Zazdroszcze mozliwosci powloczenia sie po lakach i borach :-) Kolejne piekne macro z Twojej kolekcji. Bardzo trudno jest sfotografowac w atrakcyjny sposob lowika, ale Tobie udalo sie znakomicie. Swietna poza i masa szczegolow, jednolite tlo tez pasuje idealnie do zdjecia.

What a pose, clarity and sharpness...you have in thic capture dear friend....It just cant get any crispier than this...

I like the pose and the the immensely rich amount of details that has come out in this composition.The diagonal green BG is a nice addition and the light colour of the wood on which its stands act as a nice contrast to its dark colour.Excellent lighting.

I have never noticed that kind of a pose where the legs are a bend a bit.The eye looks like a chistelled out black piece of stone.Kudos!
