Mauremys caspica (Gmelin, 1774) (Caspian Turtle, Stripe-necket Turtle)

Identification: Carapace lenght up to 25 cm, or slinghtly; carapace ankylosed to plastron; axillar and inguinal plates present. Carapace low-domed; vertebral and costal plates with distinct central keels in young, gradually become indistinct in order specimens. The suture between the anals is shorter than that of femorals. Carapace is gray to grayish-green with reddish or yellowish maarkşngs, the plastron with large dark or black patches. The head, neck and limbs wiht yellowish stripes.

Habitat & Biology: Inhabits lakes, rivers, ditches, etc. Feeds on fish and other suitable aquatic animals. Hibernates under water. A female lays 9-20 eggs in terrestrial nests.

Distribution: Its range extends from NW Africa, S Europa to Turkey, Transcaucasica, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Israel, Northern Cyprus and some Aegean island.

Hımmm... güzel olmuşşş... eline sağlık filiz. Bari hayvanı otluk bir yere alıp çekseydin. Havuz duvarının üzerinde biraz garip oldu:) Ama yinede doğal bir görünüm ve güzel detaylar mevcut. Su ana kadar yüklediklerinin en iyisi bence bu. Eline sağlık.

This is a very nice capture of Mauremys caspica. I have to say that I had possibility to observe this species only 2 times in my life, 2 years ago in Albania and this year in Greece.
