A great macro of this dragonfly Felipe.
That 'stain' on the eye is very unusual.
I certainly don't know this species either.
An excellent capture anyway. Hope you find the ID OK.

Excellent closeup Felipe, I like the head-on POV & comp here..
The colors, details, and flashwork are impeccable :)
What's going on with its eye?..Looks like it may have been injured then..
He may need to see a specialist for that ;-}}

Good to see you posting again. I'm really surprised - new picture, but old cam :-) Superb face to face POV, great details. It is very hard to ID insect from this POV, I didn't find anything similiar in my books.

Hello to you both. A very good close up of this large looking dragonfly. which you have captured with good detail in the eyes and wings. I am not to sure about the ID a bit differecult from this view. Do you have a side on picture you could load in a workshop. well done TFS.

Outstanding macro shot with immaculate sharpness and lovely colours. The compounded eyes look great and I like the details captured on the face and wings. Nice pose captured and this frontal POV makes a superb view. Very skilful use of flash lighting and the composition is magnificent. Kudos.

What a beautiful capture here! I don't remember seen this species before on TN, so thanks for sharing really :)
I'll help you with the ID: it's a Boyeria irene female - or the Western spectre.
It's a realy beauty, too and apparently it was kind enough with you and let you take lots of nice and different picture :)
Very good sharpness and flash work, excellent with the DOF and colors...in all the shots you've presented us.

among the many dragonfly shots on TN this one stands out for originality, interest and for the rare species Boyeria irene. The species shuns sunlight and stays in the shadow, it is easily overlooked. The quality of your pic is outstanding, the flash a real help.
