[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note

This was taken early morning at Arne Nature Reserve, near Wareham in Dorset. There is an impressive double decked Hide set into the trees here, which over looks grassy meadows and tidal marshes towards Poole Harbour.
This particular female was on her own, far away from the main herd in the distance and close to the Hide we were in. She was lame and stood uneasily on 3 legs, looking a bit bedraggled and very forlorn. She didn't move at all during the hour or so we stayed there in fact. Still, she was feeding ok so hopefully the injury was only temporary and she made a full recovery.

Thanks for looking

Hi Paul. this poor looking Sika deer looks a bit sad. Let hope its better now. You were able to get a good close up , with good detail and colours in the fur. Well done TFs.

Hello Paul,

Just love the play on words!
This is an excellent close up showing the appealing facial features and the soft texture of the fur.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

You have both an eye and a heart of the deer. I can tell you are close to nature by the looks on the faces of those which you image. It is almost as if they know you in some way...Very nice clean, sharp image Paul!

The poor animal is so beautiful, I always feel powerless in front of their suffering. Beautiful shot the same, Paul, with very nice light caressing her ears. The light is subtle and superb, the grass makes a beautiful background and this female might still be alive. Hope that she is and thank you for this beautiful post,

Hello Paul,
I missed this excellent picture with so much expression. It is somehow so touching to look at this female, we just feel like helping her somehow. Excellent sharpness on the animal, nice blurred and fine green background. You are also an excellent animalphotgrapher
