The Skylark (Alauda arvensis) is a small passerine bird species. This lark breeds across most of Europe and Asia and in the mountains of north Africa. It is mainly resident in the west of its range, but eastern populations are more migratory, moving further south in winter. Even in the milder west of its range, many birds move to lowlands and the coast in winter. Asian birds appear as vagrants in Alaska; this bird has also been introduced in Hawaii and western North America.

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Aves
Order: Passeriformes
Family: Alaudidae
Genus: Alauda
Species: A. arvensis

I saw this bird during my trip to Sonepat. It gave me tought time by jumping from one pillar to the other. Somehow manage to shoot as it was hot and humid.
Thanks for looking. Ganesh

Hi Narayanan
Thanks for sharing this Skylark...I havent seen this bird before. Nicely composed and framed.

I am drenched by the time I finish an hour's shoot in the open these days, Ganesan. The humidity is horrible.
This is a very nice capture of the Skylark taking a high perch and giving you the opportunity to shoot it against the sky.
Well done and TFS.

Hi Ganesh Ji,
A lovely capture of this beautiful skylark. Very well composed with sharp details. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hi Ganesh,

I'm sure I entered a critique earlier and I see it is lost. Perhaps all the thunder and lightening here is to blame. I only know the Skylard from poetry and song - have never seen one. I love the pose. Nice colors and good details of the face and plummage. Your sky looks a lot better in this picture than ours does as I look out the window.
