[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Large White is common throughout Europe, North Africa and Asia to the Himalayas often in agricultural areas, meadows and parkland. It is a strong flier and the British population is reinforced in most years by migrations from the continent. Scattered reports of the Large White from the northeastern United States (New York, Rhode Island and Maine) over the past century are of a dubious nature and indicate either accidental transport or intentional release. Such introductions threaten to establish this agricultural pest in North America.

The wings are white, with black tips on the forewings of both males and females, the female also has two black spots on each forewing. The underside is a pale greenish and serves as excellent camouflage when at rest. The black markings are generally darker in the summer brood. Its wingspan is 5 to 6.5 cm.

Hello Siggi, very sharp details nice DOF and background seperation. A little hot on the back wing but exposed well enough, superb focus on the eye, composed nicely. rgds Necip

well done,
tfs & regards

Hi Siggi,

good macroshot from these butterfly, it is a pity he sits on a Buddleya and not on a wild flower but a dood picture .

Hi Siegfried,
A lovely capture of this beautiful large white. Very well composed with sharp details. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hi Siegfried,
You have converted the strength of the natural light here into an advantage.
With the layers of the wings segregated, the subject looks three-dimensional.
The purple flowers add great beauty to the composition as a whole.
Well done and TFS.

Casi controlaste la luz Siegfried. Un bonito y alegre conjunto de esta clásica Oieris. Que tengas un buen fin de semana: Josep Ignasi.

Hello Siggi,
I like this one a lot because you took this female Large White from aexcellent POV that shows the half open wings in the best way in fine lighting and with superb sharpness with exposure of the white just right. The composition and dark contrasting BG add to the quality.
A fine image and TFS it!
Regards, Ivan
