A baby cuckoo deamnding food inside a bird sanctuary :) . This little one somehow fell off the tree and the people in charge of the sanctuary has been raising it since then. Till now it hasn't learnt to fly, which hopefully it will learn soon. Whenever it sees a hand near its mouth it thinks it is going to be fed, opens her beak wide and shakes her head vigorously.

As far as I know, baby birds do this kind of behaviour when they see their mother / parents. But in this case it seemed to do this even when it saw my (i.e. a complete stranger's) hand near its mouth! May be it is because cuckoo's eggs are laid in other bird's nests, and so they have evolved to exhibit this kind of behaviour even in front of other birds!

I will be glad if someone can illuminate me on this point.

Hello Victor uncle, This is superb shot and an excellent one. I can see some shake in the picture but that hardly matters. The composition and the subject you have presented here is beautiful. Vignesh

Well I am not an expert, you have to contact Sir David Attenborough on matters such like.
But anyway nice picture & about the shake I guess it's the chicky that is at fault here. Somehow she is not yet prepared to stand still for a glamour shoot out like a supermodel! :)

Hi Victor,

When I opened the gallery page this image immediately drew my attention. There are areas with shake but the eye is clear and really asking for something to eat. Well done

Bonsoir Victor,

Bravo pour ce gros plan original. Bravo pour le focus et les détails.
Merci pour le partage.

Very close Victor, a dramatic look & POV..
This baby cuckoo must be driving it's parents cuckoo! :)
Well done,

Dear Victor Sahib,
Excellent POV & details of the bird demanding food from you. TFS.

Hello Victor
This is famous subject on Ethology (Behaviour science). Cuckoos's mother not real ones. Usually small passerine birds looked after cuckoo's young. many times young grows as much as two or three times of active (not true) mother. You captured cuckoo with a great shot. also nice document.
I also visit your portfoli. It consists of many great shots from Indian beautiful nature. Thanks for sharing all of them. best wishes

Verry good and beautifull picture.Excelent moment to catch this bird.Best regards.Alin.
