The dead head fly (Myathropa florea) is an hoverfly slightly mimics honey bees, having a distinctive pattern on the body; a central black patch partially divided by a pair of pale greyish bars on the thorax. The adult varies considerably in the size and strength of its markings and is often seen visiting hogweed umbels and other flowers between May and October.
The larva is a rat-tailed maggot and a detritus feeder. The adult feeds on nectar, especially of large umbel flowers. (Natural England)
This is a female with its separated eyes.

L’éristale des fleurs (Myathropa florea) est un syrphe (Syrphidae) très commun sur les fleurs de mai à septembre, répandu dans toute l'Europe et en Afrique du Nord. Il appartient à la famille des Syrphides.
Cette mouche très propre (elle n'arrête pas de se nettoyer, en particulier avant de prendre son vol) est souvent prise pour une abeille en raison de sa taille et de son aspect général. Les dessins jaune vif de son abdomen permettent pourtant de le distinguer assez facilement. Les dessins du mesonotum évoquent plus ou moins une tête de mort, d'où ses noms anglais (dead head fly) et allemand (Totenkopfschwebfliege).
Les larves se développent dans les cavités remplies d'eau stagnante. (Wikipedia)
Il s’agit d’une femelle en raison de ses yeux écartés.

Hello Catherine, I just had a look at your picture of another view and now you presented different view. Both the views are superb. The color of the eye and the stripes in the body with the camflouge is superb. Well composed shot with superb lighting and colors.

Vraiment une belle prise. Pas trop de bruit dans l'arrière plan, bonne composition, excellent rendu des couleurs et une netteté surprenante. Je remarque que vous n'avez pas utilisez le flash pour déboucher les ombres. Est-ce fait en post-traitement ou c'est du à la lumière lors de la prise de vue?
