[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
It is easy to recognise this hoverfly: it has the symbol of Batman on his mesonotum (thorax). This female (separated eyes) was taking a morning sunbath and let me come very close.
You can see another photo of the same species (profile) here.

The dead head fly (Myathropa florea) is a common hoverfly, often seen visiting hogweed umbels and other flowers between May and October. (Natural England)

(Wikipedia)

Hello Catherine,
precise focus on head and thorax. The 'hairs', the delicate antennae, the minute water droplets
- all the fine details are well reproduced and shown with excellent sharpness.
Colours are very natural.
Best wishes, Peter

Hello Catherine,

You have taken a very nice close-up of this insect. I like the sharpness of the details from insect's head and thorax. The small water drops on insect's back look great. Asususaly your photo has excelent colors and the blurry background enhaces the sharpness of the main subject.

Thank you for sharing,
