Little enigma today. I don't know ID of this dragonfly. It looks like mix between males of Orthetrum cancellatum and Libellula depressa. Strange creature... Maybe some experts could help to resolve this puzzle?

Picture was taken in... no, not in Botanic Garden :-) It was taken more then year ago in northern Poland in our biggest lakes district - Mazury. I was on annual Yacht Race organised by our company and after days of sailing I was trying to capture something for TN. This dragonfly was captured in port when sitting on one of mooring lines.

Hello Grzegorz,
great sharpness on nearly the entire dragonfly. Resolution is very high so that
many details become visible. Contrasts between the objects and the background work very well.
Best wishes, Peter

Hello Grzegorz!
This is a mature male of Orthetrum cancellatum it its typical colouration, so your idea was very good :> In L. depressa wings are not transparent next to thorax (they are "smoked").
Very nice capture with good sharpness and DOF :)

After a day's sailing you went TN photo hunting...
And you didn't have to go far because he came to you Greg.
Good sharp image, those wings are so clear. Nice colours too,

Hi Greg

As Radek correctly pointed out, this is a nice, mature Orthetrum cancellatum male...and a very nice and healthy one if i may say so :)
Very beautiful coloration captured here and excellent presentation from this behind POV. The little Canon helped you keep the entire subject in great focus (it would have been much more difficult with the new one, huh? :)) and the result is a great shot.

Bravo and TFS

PS: many thanks for your nice words on my last post!!!

Beautiful shot Greg. Detail is fantastic... lighting and compostion superb. TFS

Hello Greg,
I'm sorry to have by-passed this fabulous capture of the male O. cancellatum. I love these powder blue dragonflies, not so many here this year! I like your POV and the light and colours are beautiful. A fine background too.
Many thanks and cheers, Ulla
